Many Islanders have taken their rods to the coast at high tide to seek relaxation and potentially catch something to eat, but some have reported that they have been told this is not allowed as part of the daily exercise allowance. A sign was put up at St Catherine’s Breakwater stating ‘no fishing due to lockdown rules’. However, it is unclear who erected the sign.
The JEP has sought clarification from the States police and the honorary police, with both organisations directing queries to the Government of Jersey press office. No answer was forthcoming from the government to a query first lodged on Wednesday morning.
