Anglers see more fishing at Malabar, statewide

LUCAS – Hundreds of trout slid out of their tank and into a pond this week at Malabar Farm State Park. The fish were moved there to attract more anglers.

“Being spring-fed, it’s perfect for trout,” said Michael Miller, chief of the Division of Wildlife, as he surveyed the pond. His boss, James Zehringer, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, thought the location was also perfect for fishermen. The project is one of dozens statewide that are designed to help ODNR achieve a goal that Zehringer set when he took over the department six years ago: Recruit and retain more hunters, fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts than ever before.
