LINCOLN – The Alcona Community Schools Bass Club is about more than catching bass and fishing in state school bass tournaments, according to founder and President Jacob Gombos, who said members also are focused on keeping the county clean.
That is why the club, founded in April 2015, takes time to go to Alcona County fishing spots and clean trash from the water and make things as pristine as possible, Gombos said. “The whole purpose of the club is to get out and do more than just fish,” he said “We go out and do lake cleanups and try to improve the habitat for the fish. We’re required 15 hours of community service, and the lakes cleaning up the boat launches and stuff like that.”
