Bass Pro Shops’ CEO is issuing a challenge to the former executives and owners of Cabela’s, which Bass Pro acquired for $5 billion in September,The New York Times reports. CEO Johnny Morris said he’d match their donations to a severance fund for Cabela’s employees.
Due to the acquisition, some Cabela’s employees are expected to be laid off from the company’s former headquarters in Sidney, Neb. It’s unclear how many employees may lose their jobs. Although Bass Pro already has set aside funds for severance packages, including an extra $10 million, Morris said he hopes that the executives who received big payouts will share some of their wealth with employees.
