Gun enthusiasts across the state are blasting a local Bass Pro Shops for its abrupt cancellation of a “concealed carry” fashion show sponsored by the state affiliate of the National Rifle Association, accusing the chain of caving into pressure from gun control advocates.

The event, hosted by the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts and Massachusetts Women Gun Owners, was to be held Friday night at the company’s Foxborough store. Organizers said the sold-out show was meant to show off an array of holsters and accessories for wearing concealed firearms. But Bass Pro Shops informed organizers late Wednesday that it was canceling the event due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
