Bass Pro Shops Donated 40,000 Rods and Reels to Nonprofit Groups

East Peoria, IL – Bass Pro Shop’s “Gone Fishing” movement kicked off Thursday. Shops across the nation donated 40,000 rods and reels to non-profit groups. Shoppers have the option to donate lightly used rods for a discount on their purchase.

East Peoria’s Bass Pro Shop General Manager Jim Goff said 11 local high school’s fishing teams received donations at their store Thursday. “The event is to inspire kids to put down the electronics and get off the couch, and to get outside and enjoy nature and enjoy fishing” said Goff.
