Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts from throughout northern Florida descended on Gainesville’s newest superstore with the opening of Bass Pro Shops Sportsman’s Center Wednesday evening featuring appearances by celebrity sportsmen and a ribbon-cutting by NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.

An estimated 3,000 people gathered around a stage in front of the store before opening as fishing show host Jimmy Houston and radio host Rob Keck led the proceedings. Cars backed up on the new bridge into Celebration Pointe and more people filtered in throughout the evening.
