Winter is just around the corner and there is little doubt that winter fishing for Clear Lake bass can be a challenge. Not only do you have subfreezing temperatures to contend with but the fish don’t always cooperate.
The winter months also are ideal for fishing in many ways. You won’t be harassed by the power boaters or jet skiers and there are fewer fishermen on the lake. As a bonus, the larger fish are normally caught during the winter months. And the advantage of living near Clear Lake is that you rarely have to put up with the thick tule fog that blankets the Sacramento Valley. When it’s a foggy 40 degrees in Sacramento, it’s often 65 degrees and sunny in Lake County.
