What started out as a school project for Jackson Morgan, 13, has become a fishing event for children ages 6-17 to catch their first fish. CAST for Kids/Lanier will take place at Little Hall Park on Lake Lanier on Saturday, August 11. The inaugural event will host 40 youngsters, and while registration for participants is filled, event organizers are seeking additional volunteers.
“Jackson needed service hours for school, and he loves to fish, so we found this event in Alabama,” said Laurie Morgan, his mom. “We went to Lake Guntersville to participate with two of Jackson’s friends, Jakob Cowart and Evan O’Neill, and they had such a great time. When the organizers found out that I was from Lake Lanier, they asked if I would be the coordinator for a program in Georgia.”
