The State Department of Environmental Conservation is proposing changes to black bass fishing regulations that will affect both smallmouth and largemouth bass.
There are an estimated 500,000 bass anglers in New York state. Black bass are the most popular and sought-after freshwater game fish in the country; the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates there are 9.6 million bass anglers in the country.
