Collegiate bass fishing has reached a new level in Mississippi with the recent announcement of the Gene M. Tilghman Gone Fishing Scholarship at Itawamba Community College.

“It’s the first fishing scholarship for the state of Mississippi,” said Michael Tilghman of Somerville, Tennessee. “It will pay half the students’ tuition for the full year at Itawamba Community College. It’s a fully-endowed scholarship so the funds will never run out.”
