Competitive bass fishing has long been a major American sport, but is it now international, too? Apparently so. The Bass Anglers Sportsmen’s Society (B.A.S.S.) will host the best 113 amateur anglers from all over the world at Lake Conroe, Texas on Nov. 17-19.
Forty-seven states are sending representatives, as are nine countries (Australia, Nambia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Canada) to try for the Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation Championship. Lake Conroe has the potential to produce 20-plus-pound bags per day for the leaders and the standing record for this 21,000-acre reservoir is a 15.93-pound largemouth.
