East Texas Fishing Report: Bass are slow on Lake Athens

Water level is about three inches high and clear. Water temp in the mid-50s. Fishing guide Jim Brack says fishing patterns remain unchanged from last week. Bass are slow. A few fish in the 2-3 pound range taking Carolina rigs fished around brush piles in 20-25 feet of water.

Shallow bite is best on Senkos and jigs fished along outside grass lines. Crappie are good with limits coming off brush piles in 20-30 feet using small jigs. CEDAR CREEK — Water level is at normal level and stained. Water temp in the upper 50s. Fishing guide Jason Barber says bass fishing has been fair around docks with brush, any flooded shoreline cover and shore rock using square bills, spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits.
