ALLIANCE The University of Mount Union is launching a new community program to help teach Alliance youth and their parents about Ohio waterways and proper ways to handle fish. The workshop, “Alliance Junior Anglers,” will take place Oct. 6 at Silver Park beginning at 10 a.m. The workshop will be led by Christopher Marks, assistant professor of biology. Other Mount Union faculty and student volunteers will be on hand to assist.

Marks is facilitating the workshop as part of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife’s “Rod and Reel” grant for aquatic education. Participating Alliance youth can expect to learn outdoor skills and participate in hands-on fishing opportunities covering the basics of angling in casting, fishing knots and rigging, fish habitat and handling and local information.
