There was a shortage of nice days on the water this past week. However, the few good weather days that we’ve had provided some excellent fishing both inshore and nearshore. Right now water temperatures are fluctuating from the low to upper 60s, which is still warm enough for fish to be moving around looking for food. If we get much cooler expect to have to slow everything down to match the fishes’ metabolism.
Nearshore gag grouper fishing has been really good recently. Anglers trolling lipped plugs in 15 to 30 foot of water are picking up some big grouper. Target small ledges and rock piles, many of which can be located by simply trolling along crab trap lines.
