Kayak and fishing are two popular outdoor activities for folks heading to Folsom Lake. Two El Dorado Hills locals decided to bring their passion for both, home. “Nobody ever looked at Folsom Lake as a place to hold fishing tournaments,” said Tim Arthur, one of two founders of From the Depths. “Major bass fishing tournaments are usually held at the larger lakes like Berryessa, Bullards Bar Reservoir or on the Delta.

Arthur and his buddy Marvin Goda fish the circuit, competing in several bass fishing tournaments throughout the year, all of them well outside the Folsom Lake area. After several conversations with each other, they decided to host a test run to see if there was enough local interest within the community. In less than a day they had filled the 25 allotted spots given them by the California Fish and Wildlife.
