• Melvin Stewart on the Cumberland River: The big bass bite is on in the river. The weather is picking up and Sunday the water temperature was 52 degrees. The spawning season had been set back because of the last cold snap. Now bass are feeding like crazy. The biggest bass of the season can be caught if you’re in the right place. The current was strong and just above summer pool. I caught a 7-pound bass close to spawning water. I caught a 5-pound bass in two feet of water. Jerk bait was the bait of the day.
