Free fishing in Oregon follows Thanksgiving; and again New Year’s Eve

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife wants to turn Black Friday into a rainbow weekend, then double up with a Christmas present to bring in the new year.


Armed with a little-known bill passed in the last legislative session, the department has declared holiday extensions of its annual Free-Fishing weekend in June. The fun begins after Thanksgiving, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25 and 26, then repeats New Year’s Eve and New Years Day, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. No license or tag is required.
