Saturday is one of two free fishing days in California. On July 7 and Sept. 1 this year, you don’t need a fishing license to fish in California. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife annually offers two free fishing days, typically around the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends.
“Free fishing days provide endless opportunities to enjoy California’s wild places with family and friends,” said Charlton H. Bonham, director of CDFW in a press release. “Whether catching a trout in a mountain stream or simply enjoying a spectacular sunset, you’ll never regret time spent fishing.” The Paradise Irrigation District is also waiving parking and boating fees at Paradise Lake in Magalia for the day. No swimming is permitted and no dogs are allowed on the lake.
