A fun few days of bass fishing on Saratoga Lake, Hudson River

Earlier this month, Saratoga friends Mark Howorth, his 10-year-old-son Theo and I went bass fishing on Saratoga Lake.

Last week, we decided to try for smallmouth bass in the upper Hudson River. Theo was the first to hook up with a smallie, using a stik-o-worm wacky worm rig in 6 to 10 feet of water. Numbers two and three came quickly for him, and the father/son tournament was on. It was fun to watch, and at the end of the day, Theo had caught and released 18 smallies, lost five or six and dad had three. However, one of dad’s was a very nice 3-pound largemouth.
