Holidays might be over for most of us, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to pack away the fishing gear. There’s some pretty decent fishing unfolding right on Canberra anglers’ doorsteps, with the local lakes producing good catches of redfin and natives.

The action isn’t red-hot by any stretch of the imagination, but fishos prepared to put in the hours are being rewarded. Redfin aren’t hard to come by. They’re almost everywhere in Lake Burley Griffin, and while they’re mostly small, they’re good fun on lures and light tackle.
