Great spot for beaut bass

I HAVE just returned from another sensational fishing trip in Papua New Guinea’s Lake Murray, organised by Angling Adventures. This time I fished with good mate Grant Edwards and his father Trevor. It was Grant’s first time in PNG. Trevor had fished once before at another lodge, but had not managed to land a black bass on that trip. Both were keen to tackle their first black bass and I was just excited to get back to this amazing destination.

Once again, the lake was flooded and only a little lower than the previous year when I first fished it. This meant that we would be mainly trolling again with very little run-off available due to the flooded levels. After a quick lunch, we were keen to get on the water for the afternoon to secure a bass for both Grant and Trevor. The guides took us down the Herbert River which is the only one that flows out of the lake. We were fishing a favourite troll run along the river where many big black bass had been caught before.
