Heavy rains have returned to Bristol Motor Speedway, bringing out the second red flag of the night and making the possibility of postponent of the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race a very real possibility. The 40-car field logged a total of 48 laps — 38 before the first rainstorm hit, then 10 more under caution before a second deluge arrived.
The start of the race also was delayed approximately 30 minutes because of inclement inclement weather. At 9:54 p.m. ET, the rain had finally stopped — and NASCAR began attempting to dry the track at 10:03 p.m. Cars took to the track shortly thereafter, but ran only 10 laps under caution before more rains, heavier this time, hit the 0.533-mile short track.
