Here’s one way to impress the impressionable on their first fishing adventure

To young Damien Pyles, everything at Marker 37 was strange. The 9 year old stepped quickly alongside his grandpa toward the back dock, looking uncertain, like a kid going to school for the first time. He really didn’t know what to expect. And nothing his young imagination could conjure fit what the day held.

This was his first visit to a marina. He’d never caught a fish. He’d never even gone fishing. The closest Damien had been to a fishing boat was a couple of rides on a Port Aransas ferry.  But on this day, that all changed. Damien was being treated to a guided fishing adventure on the Laguna Madre with his grandpa. Grandpa is Premont Superintendent Steve VanMatre, who wanted this day to be special.
