With the snow, colder temperatures, and the opening of the firearm deer season, very few fishermen have been out, the DNR said, adding that weekly fishing reports will continue to be short until there is safe ice.
“There’s good fishing over here,” avid angler Brandon Stanton, of Elkton. “There’s nice fish on the bay right now.” “The walleye and steelhead are coming in,” Jeff Throop of Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare said. “Steelhead fishing is taking off. There’s no ice yet. That’s what we’re getting ready for.”
