Janesville man displays his passion for fishing in new man cave

Merle Sveen, a fifth-grade teacher at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Elementary School, is used to having a house full of women. Sveen and his wife, Karla, raised three daughters, Kayla, Kaitlin and Kylie, at their Janesville home. About three years ago, after his middle daughter graduated high school and moved out, Sveen started collecting fishing memorabilia with plans of converting his computer room into a fish room.

Fishing has always been a big part of Sveen’s life. One of 12 children, Sveen said his family vacations growing up consisted of fishing trips every summer to Lake Pepin near Lake City. In college he spent his free time fishing in South Dakota. Current family vacations consist of traveling to their cabin near Hayward, Wisconsin. A rod and reel always make the trip.
