Black Earth Creek, one of Wisconsin’s crown jewels of southern Wisconsin trout fishing, has gone through some rough times of late, most recently following the 2011-2012 winter.
Area state fisheries biologists, other than pointing to a summer drought, followed by an extremely cold winter, have not been able to pinpoint a cause as to what some avid anglers point to as a significant drop in fish numbers of all classes in many parts of Black Earth Creek in Dane County.
