The event was put on by South Shore Fishing to promote the sport of fishing and get kids outside. A total of 163 kids showed up and the first 150 received a free fishing pole. The pond out front was well stocked with blue gill for the kids to catch. Kids also got to go on a tractor ride around the park.

“It was a wonderful day by all,” said Burt Harris, Board of Directors Member at Large for South Shore Fishing. “I spent the day untying knots, retying hooks, but the one thing I did not see or hear was one cry, and if you’ve got this many kids together and nobody’s crying it’s a total success.” South shore fishing will be doing a cleanup next Saturday around lower Carp River.
