Caroline Roman entered the Ocean City Fishing Club Boys and Girls Surf Fishing Tournament Saturday because her father said she should. She left the grand prize winner with a new bicycle and nine fish.
“We we’re just hoping to get a bite,” said her dad, Chip. Caroline was one of 75 children who entered the 42nd annual tournament Saturday at the beach adjacent to the Longport Bridge. In a total, they brought in 50 fish over two hours. Caroline, 10, of Ocean City often fishes with her father and her brother, Charlie, 11. “It’s a good outside activity,” Chip Roman said. “It teaches them patience.”
