Simpson University is looking to lure prospective students with the addition of a sport that few colleges offer. Starting in the fall of 2019, the school plans to field a bass fishing team. “Simpson is starting a number of new programs,” Mark Endraske, Simpson’s dean of students, said last week. “Bass fishing is one that we think is a good fit for the North State.”
Endraske said he hopes the club will give students applying to colleges another reason to pick Simpson. The idea came from Simpson President Norman Hall, whose former employer, Greenville University in Illinois, fielded a bass fishing team.
