A few largemouth bass can be a good antidote to any winter doldrums fishermen may have at this time of year. The bass have been entertaining anglers at Spring Lake who bring the necessary offerings to please their palate — and that is live killifish.
Greg Bogan at Brielle Bait and Tackle said he and two shop employees took a break last Saturday afternoon to give the lake in the center of town a shot. The fishing started slow. They set up on the southeast side of the lake by St. Catherine’s Church and pretty much picked lint out of their pockets for the first couple of hours. The fish were in the northeast corner of the lake by the flagpole, Bogan said.
