The annual Youth Steelhead Clinic for anglers ages 8-14 is set for October in Lewiston. Preregistration for limited slots is already open. The clinics will run 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Oct. 26 and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the Idaho Fish and Game regional office on 16th street in Lewiston.
The Thursday evening classroom session will cover the life history of a steelhead, fishing gear and fishing techniques. On Saturday the students will be paired with a mentor taken out on a drift or jet boat to practice their new skills. “This clinic has been a tradition for many years and we are happy to share our knowledge with area youth,” said Brett Bowersox, IFG fisheries biologist.
