Bass Pro Shops has been accused of reeling in customers with a deceptive ad. Two Missouri men filed a class-action lawsuit against the outdoors retail giant last week alleging shady sales tactics. The men say they were lured into the Springfield store in February by a whale of a sale — a Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0 rod and reel combo (normally $239.98) on sale for $119.97.
The one problem, the men say, is the store sold out in no time, and they weren’t able to take advantage of the deal. In the lawsuit, the men claim Bass Pro did not include in its advertising that supplies were limited and that prospective buyers would not be provided rainchecks or the ability to purchase comparable products at the same discounted price.
