The Minooka High School entrants finished first and second at this week’s Heidecke Lake bass fishing sectional to qualify for the state meet. One of Coal City’s boats was fourth in the regional, making it a state alternate, while the other Coal City boat finished fifth. One Morris boat was sixth and the other finished ninth.
Minooka’s winning boat, with 7 pounds, 2 ounces, consisted of Wyatt Pazdro, Alec Berens, Austin Day and Luke Hanouw with driver Dan Harris and coach Stan Tischer. The second-place Minooka boat was A.J. Wojtowicz, Anthony Fazio, Colin Wurzinger and Brendon Dykstra with driver Joe Tisher and coach Stan Tischer. Coal City’s alternate boat included Austin Planeta and Bret Blecha with driver Chad Planeta and coach Tim Hanley, finishing with two pounds, 15 ounces.
