Nicholls State University’s Tyler Rivet and Cameron Naquin went into the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Central Regional with one main goal. They wanted to go out and put on a good showing as the only bass fishing team from Nicholls at the tournament, which was held at Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Lufkin, Texas.
But Rivet and Naquin did more than that. When the three-day tournament ended on Saturday, the duo found themselves in third place and securing a spot in this summer’s Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship. “It’s definitely an honor to be representing Nicholls at the tournament and bringing home a third-place finish,” Naquin said. “We came out here not expecting to do as well as we did, but we were fortunate that we were able to to find fish to finish third.”
