North Country Angling: An all-around fishing lure

As an angler, there are a multitude of choices for lures to place at the end of your line. It can be mind boggling to try and sift through all the choices. One way to simplify things is to choose a good all around lure that works for all species of fish; a lure that can be adjusted to match whatever type of fishing or type of fish that you are choosing to pursue.

Welcome the Mickey Finn. The Mickey Finn was developed as a trout and salmon fly in Quebec in the early 1900s. The fly was so effective that it was originally named the Assassin. In the 1930s, John Alden Knight and a friend went on a fishing trip in Quebec and had a very successful trip. They brought several of the flies back to the states.
