Ott DeFoe of Knoxville leads after two rounds of the Plano Bassmaster Elite At The Mississippi River on Friday in La Crosse, Wis. DeFoe started the day in first after reeling in his limit of five largemouth at 17 pounds, 7 ounces on Thursday.
He pushed his two-day total to 35-2 and a sizable, nearly 2-pound lead over Jordan Lee (16-2) of Grant, Ala., who is at 33-04. He added a 6-1 largemouth and four other heavy bass — all but one from one hot spot — under what most anglers called horrible fishing conditions. “After today, I know those fish are there,” DeFoe said in a release. “I feel like it’s got more potential. They’re there.”
