We can’t turn to the freshwater either because not only is it a closed season, there is the drought that is smashing our farmers, drying up all the rivers and killing the fish.
However, all is not lost because there is always the humble old bream to save the day. The yellowfin bream is prolific right along the NSW coast, especially in the estuaries. Unlike many other species that have declined because of man’s encroachment on the marine environment bream have flourished. They love all the structures like wharves, moorings or bridges which have provided them with additional aquatic real estate and boosted stocks even right in the middle of suburbia.
