Are you looking for an inexpensive, fun family event? Check this out: There is a family fishing night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Iron Horse Lake. Iron Horse Lake is located at the Interstate 80-Highway 83 interchange next to Veterans Memorial Park. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Fishing permits are required for anglers 16 years of age and older. There will be experienced anglers on hand to assist anglers that need help. Loaner equipment and bait will also be available to use. Lake McConaughy’s water level seems to be slowly trending down. It is about 80 percent full at the moment. More beach is being exposed and campers like that. The cooler temperatures this week have led to better fishing. The upper end of Big Mac has been particularly good this week.
