Outdoors: Young angler calculates mastering bass fishing

He won’t formally start calculus class until school begins for the fall session, but Nick Seitz has been doing extensive calculations for quite some time. There is an infinite number of derivatives, variables, and integers involved in the pastime that occupies much of Nick’s attention.

His mind is flush with differential equations, quadratic functions, convergent tasks, and an abundance of hypotheses — every time he analyzes the water in front of him and considers what binomial coefficients might be involved in the patterns, movements, and moods of the bass concealed there.
