Nathan Phillips will be making a bit of history as the Kelseyville High School graduate is the newest member of the Simpson University bass fishing team after recently signing a letter of intent to attend the Redding school on scholarship.

Phillips, a member of Kelseyville’s graduating class of 2019, is making history on a couple of counts. He’s not only the first Kelseyville athlete to receive an athletic scholarship in the sport of bass fishing, but he’ll be a member of the inaugural Simpson University bass fishing team as the college recently upgraded the sport from its previous status as a co-ed club team.
