Post-derby fishing remains pretty good

The Best of the West Fishing Derby has concluded, but the fishing along the Colorado River certainly has not. “Our local fishing tournament was a great success, and so is our area’s fishing,” said Rusty Braun, proprietor of Riviera Marina in Bullhead City, who cooperated with the Bullhead City Recreation Division to run the derby last weekend. Results of the derby appear below on this page. Results of recent fishing outings also appear on this page.

“We have anglers catching rainbow trout, striped bass and catfish here below Davis Dam on the Colorado River,” Braun said. “The catfish are mostly channel cats in this part of the river; the flathead and bullhead catfish are a little more scarce in these parts. The flatheads can get pretty big.”
