The Hancock Park District’s 22nd annual youth fishing event will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Giertz Lake near the Lakefront Activity Center at Riverbend Recreation Area. The event is free. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. in the activity center. Trout will be stocked in the lake by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Division. Fishing will be allowed from the bank only. Children 4-15 years old must do the fishing. An accompanying adult may provide limited assistance.
State fishing rules and regulations must be followed and participants must take the first five trout caught, as catch-and-release will not be permitted. Live bait will be for sale. The fishing festival will be held rain or shine, except in the event of extreme weather conditions. Names of registered participants will be drawn for random prizes. They must be present to win.
