Limited space and ability to move is an obvious constraint when it comes to working certain baits and setting the hook. Peterson goes on to explain what presentations dictate the use a shorter rod and when to reach for longer combos. He uses braid almost exclusively to counteract weaker hooksets; braid paired on a high-speed reel and longer rod make hook setting efficiency comparable to boat or bank fishing.
