Fishers are looking for signs to indicate quality spring fishing is about to get started big-time. One of the harbingers is the arrival of laughing gulls. Bill Shillingford of Cape May Court House was making a tour of fishing spots Friday. He said he saw some at Cape May. Steve Purul had a crew out catching short striped bass Friday morning and saw some inside Barnegat Inlet.
Noel Feliciano said he got a delivery Friday from local bait man Chuck Law of bunker netted in Delaware Bay. According to Noel, Chuck reported water temperatures of 47 degrees there. Shad are reported moving into Delaware Bay. Bluefish might be showing up soon. Striped bass and white perch are and have been a good combo so far in the rivers and streams when the lousy weather breaks and allows fishers to get out.
