The strike of a largemouth bass on a surface lure is about as exciting as it gets. Even a two-pounder can move enough water that it appears a small bomb has exploded. The viciousness and speed at which the strike occurs does not seem possible from a fish that size.
There are the subtle bites on surface lures, but everyone can recall the way a certain bass hit their surface lure for years after the catch. My largest bass ever took a buzzbait with nothing more than a slurp. However they take a surface lure does not matter … it is fun and as much excitement that freshwater fishing can provide.
