The Birmingham resident operates Bella Aquatics which maintains the aquariums at the Bass Pro Shops locations in Prattville and Leeds. The work includes being part scientist, part biologist and part certified diver. On Wednesday she was in Prattville where she donned a wet suit to clean the two tanks and the stream in the store.
“When I dive I clean the glass, vacuum the inside of the tank and repair any of the features in the tank that need work,” she said. The lunch crowd at the Islamorada Fish Company got a bit of a floor show, or tank show, as Bellafato dove in the 12,500 gallon saltwater tank that is the centerpiece of the restaurant.
