Wow, what a great ending to the fishing year. Warm temperatures, ideal tides, ample bait and a plethora of hungry fish have greeted local and visiting anglers alike during this holiday week of catching.
While persistent offshore trade winds have made for some lumpy offshore conditions, there has been plenty of rod-bending action within close proximity to the coastline to keep the most seasoned of anglers satiated. With Gulf temperatures still hovering in the mid-70s, the bite has been outstanding. Highlighting the action in the waters just outside the surf line out to the 10-mile range, Spanish and king mackerel, bonita, bluefish and tarpon can be found crashing the surface under dipping turns and diving pelicans.
