The sea bass season opens Saturday and will remain open through the end of the year. Anglers are allowed 15 sea bass, with a minimum size of 12.5 inches, per person.
The Thoroughfare, the channel connecting the York River and Back Creek, has shoaled in. This is well-known to local boaters. The Coast Guard is concerned that having a marked channel may be more misleading and dangerous than having no markers at all. It is proposing to remove the channel markers. Mariners may comment on this proposal before Nov. 21.
