The heat of summer makes it uncomfortable to fish with the high humidity and that beating sun it is almost not worth the effort but if you know how to throw soft plastics then it will be worth your time. Summertime bass fishing can be tough but on tidal rivers it can be a little easier than deep water lakes.
The tidal water helps keep the oxygen levels higher especially on the main river and as long as the bait is present then there will be largemouth. My favorite summer pattern, besides top water is to flip wood with a texas rigged worm. When I say worm that can be a lizard, bug bait or finesse worm but all apply to flipping. The fish can be almost anywhere in the water column and it changes during the day with some fish shallow in the morning and late in the day while other times of the day they are deeper.
